Battery-Type Lithium-Ion Hybrid Capacitors: Current Status and Future Perspectives

The lithium-ion battery (LIB) has become the most widely used electrochemical energy storage device due to advantage of high density. However, because low rate Faradaic process transfer lithium ions (Li+), LIB defects poor power performance and cycle performance, which can be improved by adding capacitor material cathode, resulting hybrid is also known as a (LIBC). This review introduces typical structure working principle an LIBC, it summarizes recent research developments in advanced LIBCs. An overview non-lithiated pre-lithiated anode materials for LIBCs applications given, commonly pre-lithiation methods anodes are present. Capacitor added cathodes, suitable separator reviewed. In addition, polarization phenomenon, pulsed safety issues electrode engineering improving systematically analyzed. Finally, future development direction prospected through discussion existing problems LIBC composite cathode LiNixCoyMn1−x−yO2 (NCM).
